Campbell finished with 2 sacks, 2 tackles for loss and 2 quarterback hits. Rookie linebacker Princely Umanmielen #3 took down Murray for a 9-yard loss in the second quarter for Carolina’s first sack of the 2025 NFL season. Carolina’s onside kick was the team’s first successful recovery since December 1, 2019. The league’s 2024 rule change requires teams to declare onside attempts in advance; only three converted in all of the 2024 season. Richardson’s recovery at midfield with 1:58 left gave the Panthers a chance they almost took.

Injuries: Carolina lost CB Max Melton #16 (knee) and DL LJ Collier (knee) in the first quarter. CB Garrett Williams #21 (knee) and CB Will Johnson #0 (groin) departed late in the game. OT Ikem Ekwonu returned after missing Week 1 with an appendectomy. Arizona did not report in-game injuries.

Young produced the biggest passing game of his career in a loss. Three touchdowns, 328 yards, the successful onside, and still a five-point deficit when the whistle blew. Campbell, who spent his first nine seasons in Arizona before leaving for Jacksonville, Baltimore, Atlanta and Miami, came back to the Cardinals in 2025 and played his first home game in the desert since his return. He is 39 years old. He got to the quarterback on fourth down with the game on the line. The Cardinals were 2-0 and headed to San Francisco.
