The win pushed Miami to 6-7 with five victories from their previous six games, a second-half turnaround from a 1-6 start that kept the Dolphins in the Wild Card conversation entering the final weeks of the 2025 season. Tagovailoa went 7-0 all time as a starter against New York, and playing in 41-degree weather at kickoff, he recorded his first career win in a start at 46 degrees or below, moving to 1-7 in those conditions. “That’s a formula to win games in December,” head coach Mike McDaniel said.

Sieler’s 2.5-sack afternoon moved him past Joey Porter to sixth on Miami’s all-time defensive sack list at 32.5 for his career. Waddle’s touchdown reception was his 26th as a Dolphin, passing Bruce Hardy for eighth on the franchise’s all-time receiving touchdown list. Wright, who had never rushed for more than 86 yards in a career game before that afternoon, passed 100 rushing yards for the first time on 24 carries.

Glenn, in his first season as head coach, said he had not had his players ready and called the performance “definitely disappointing.” The Jets converted one of 12 third-down attempts, went 0-for-3 in the red zone and turned the ball over three times on interceptions. The defeat extended New York’s postseason absence to 15 consecutive seasons, the longest such streak in the NFL at the time.
