Pittsburgh outran Detroit 230 yards to 15 on the ground, scored twice on identical 45-yard runs inside the final 12 minutes of the fourth quarter, and still needed two penalty calls in the final 90 seconds to survive a 29–24 win at Ford Field. Jaylen Warren carried 14 times for a career-high 143 yards and both of Pittsburgh’s rushing touchdowns — each covering exactly 45 yards in the fourth quarter — as the Steelers took sole possession of the AFC North lead at 9–6 with two weeks left in the 2025 regular season. Jared Goff threw for 364 yards and three scores for Detroit, but 15 total rushing yards and three sacks left him without the kind of supporting structure that had carried the Lions through most of the year.

Passing Stats

Aaron Rodgers completed 27 of 41 attempts for 266 yards and one touchdown — a 45-yard strike to Kenneth Gainwell on the final play of the first half, initially ruled an incomplete pass and reversed on review. Goff was the more productive passer on the day, completing 34 of 54 for 364 yards and three touchdowns, but absorbed three sacks behind an offensive line missing two centers and got almost nothing from the ground game.

Rushing Stats

Warren’s 143-yard performance came on 14 carries against a Detroit front that allowed 230 yards combined — a season-worst total for the Lions. His first 45-yard touchdown at the 12:23 mark opened a 22–10 Pittsburgh lead. Detroit answered with a 10-play, 74-yard drive ending in Kalif Raymond’s TD to cut the deficit to five, but Warren broke free again on a three-play, 65-yard Pittsburgh response to make it 29–17 with 6:41 left and effectively end Detroit’s chances.

Receiving Stats

Gainwell led Pittsburgh’s receiving corps with 78 yards and the 45-yard touchdown — his only score of the game came on the final snap of the first half after a booth review reversed the initial ruling. Jahmyr Gibbs ran the most routes and drew the most targets of any Detroit receiver, turning 10 catches out of 13 looks into 66 yards and a touchdown.

Defensive Stats

Pittsburgh Steelers Defense

Kyle Dugger accounted for the only safety of the game, sacking Goff for a five-yard loss in the third quarter that gave Pittsburgh a 12–10 lead and forced Detroit to punt from deep in its own end. With T.J. Watt inactive, Cameron Heyward and Keeanu Benton each registered a sack; Joey Porter Jr. broke up two passes and held Amon-Ra St. Brown to four catches on nine targets.

Injury Report and Inactive Players

Pittsburgh Steelers: OLB T.J. Watt (lung) was inactive for his third straight game after a dry needling treatment at the team facility in Week 14 partially collapsed his lung, requiring surgery. OG Isaac Seumalo (triceps) and OLB Nick Herbig (hamstring) were also inactive. CB Brandin Echols left in the second quarter with a groin injury.

Detroit Lions: C Graham Glasgow (knee) and C Trystan Colon (wrist) were both ruled out, giving 24-year-old Kingsley Eguakun his first career start at center. G Kayode Awosika (foot) missed his third consecutive game.

Detroit dropped to 8–7 with its second straight loss, its playoff probability reduced to 8 percent and its outside chance at a third consecutive NFC North title effectively finished. Pittsburgh secured a 22nd consecutive .500-or-better season in the process — an NFL record, breaking the mark the Steelers had previously shared with the Dallas Cowboys, who ran 21 straight from 1965 to 1985 — and left Ford Field sitting alone atop the AFC North.
